DP x DC prompt [3]
during one of the final psych evals at Arkham right before he gets to be released, the whole thing wrapped up so tidy, just a little relapse which involved a robbery. Getting sent back to Arkham, but he got to stay at the asylum so long that he no longer has to serve a prison sentence, score!
But during that eval his overseeing psychiatrist recommended him to have a change of scenery, some fresh non polluted air.
Riddler was rather convinced the guy was making this recommendation to everyone in Arkham in their own weird way to convince them to just leave Gotham and become someone else's problem. should he notify Batman about it somehow? nah, it’ll be more interesting to see how this is gonna turn out in the long run.
But can he leave the state? Can he even leave the city? he never really bothered to look into it, at least not legally, up until now if he felt he needed to leave for one of his plans he just did it.
Turns out he can, it’s a whole hassle and a half though, first a judge and then a probation officer and he’s pretty sure both were like “what the hell is this psychiatrist guy thinking!?” but at the same time, shrink probably knows what he’s doing (WRONG) so he’s allowed to go visit out of state family or whatever.
he had to wear this nice ankle monitor though, Wayne Enterprises™ tech, not overly bulky but still very present. real fancy, and a fun extra challenge heh.
now as for a good reason to leave New Jersey he’s going to need distant relatives, and he finds some, great grandpa walker also has a son, who had a son who had a daughter Madeline, who married some guy Jack Fenton, and she lives somewhere out in the boonies Illinois. great he’ll visit her.
far enough away in all sense of the word that there is no way she knows anything about him. it would be best to call her first though, be polite about it.
“hello, you have reached Fenton works, this is Maddie speaking”
“Riddle me this-” ah whoops, habit, oh whatever, “we don’t share parents, but certainly a part of your life, from laughter to strife. Who am I?”
there is a pause … he’s going to be a bit disappointed if she hangs up if he’s honest.
“cousins~” comes the cheery reply.
“correct! the name is Edward Nygma, we are distantly related you and I and well-”
“oh you simply must come visit!”
well this was rather easy, perhaps a little too easy, but she lives in the midwest so maybe just going with whatever some guy says over the phone is normal there? stranger danger not really a thing in a small town where everyone knows everyone?
things start to make a little more sense once he gets there and he’s starting to think some things might run in the family. like a preference for the colour green and weird hyperfixations and genius bordering on insanity. Though that remains to be seen, Jack does not seem like a very bright light after his very enthusiastic welcome.
their kids however are observant and sharp. young Jasmine is wasting no time trying to psychoanalyze him. and the boy, Danny, he had not really meant to and he swears he’s sticking with calling the kid Danny so he wouldn’t seem overly familiar, but he might have called him little bird a couple times now.
but that’s all whatever, he’s playing nice here. and he doesn’t even have to worry about his eccentricities tripping him up because this place is insane.
There actually is a local teen vigilante active but he seems about as loved as he’s disliked. and the ghost boy’s enemies are basically all his own kind, which another crazy thing to now know about. ghost. they are real actually, how is Gotham not completely overrun? and how do they even work? and where do they keep coming from?
Edward might be getting a little sidetracked here. He had fully intended to sneakily get his next big game plan underway all the way out here, ankle monitor be damned. but he hasn’t made any progress at all.
Instead he’s been listening to Madeline and Jack to maybe figure out what the deal is with these ectoplasmic entities, he has to know, at this point he might go crazier if he doesn’t.
He’s making Jasmine promise him not to get her doctorate in Gotham, he’s going back and forth with space riddles with Danny.
so yeah the whole thing kinda just became a vacation, maybe the psychiatrist had the right idea after all? hmm nah, probably not. but this is fun. He’s thinking about recommending this place to some of the others.
It's different enough to get the vacation feel, but enough crazy shit happens to make it all feel like home.
it is not until Maddie wants to talk with him about potentially switching the position of godfather of Danny to him rather than some weird rich friend of theirs that Edward realizes he might have lost the plot somewhere
Apparently the little bird basically begged them with a powerpoint presentation on how he likes Edward so much more than that Vladimir guy.
And honestly, the fellow sounds like a Dracula Lutho so even if it’s kinda sad Edward can understand why he’d be considered a better option. Even if the guy has more money and a huge company that makes him said money. And it’s not like the Fentons know about his Riddler activities.
Thinking it over, Edward does think that Danny would like Gotham and Wayne has that space program thing right? The kid is definitely smart enough for that (Nygma certified), and yeah Edward does quite like their space themed back and forth. So, fuck it, why not, what is the worst that could happen?
He doubts Maddie and Jack are gonna kick it any time soon anyway out here in the boonies, it’s just a title thing, a stamp of approval or something.
he should have known he was going to eat those words later��� he had this whole beautifully elaborate trap set up for the whole Batclan, and he was just getting to the good part when his phone went off.
Had to put the whole thing on pause cause that particular contact wasn’t gonna get ignored. He did promise to be available.
If the whole thing he had planned now went tits up he could at the very least laugh later at the reactions of the bats as he told them to “hold up one second, I have to take this.” while they were all in various perilous positions.
Sadly he did have to go, he had a very distressed godson to pick up.

doing a little lovestruck gp with these two!! a little backstory under the cut if you're interested!
adelaide (ada) and valerie (val) met as freshmen in college at britechester when they were randomly paired together as roommates. ada studied communications and hoped to become a journalist, val was unsure what she wanted to do at first but knew that she wanted to do something with art and possibly fashion. they didn't click at first but over time became inseparable. for the next 3 years, they lived together and when graduation came, val decided she wanted to move back to her hometown, ciudad enamorada, and ada, now unsure of what to do with her life post-grad, decided to go with her. they found a nice 2 bedroom apartment in the historic center of the city to rent for the foreseeable future while they explore the city and all it offers.
despite getting along really well, the two are pretty much opposites. val loves going out meeting making out with new people while ada prefers to make friends, she's also a little awkward when it comes to romance... (she's trying her best!)

I do want to also add to my sudden numerous WWDITS/Nandermo posts that while I have enjoyed this season (somewhat) and the 'Nandermo' they've given us for what it is, I can confidently say at this point that there should have been more. I absolutely agree with everyone saying there should have, could have been more, and even if the last episode confirms somehow without a doubt that Nandor and Guillermo are a couple or in love etc, as great as that would be in the moment, I will always lament that it could have (arguably should have) happened a season ago. Two seasons ago, even, maybe more! I agree that what we've gotten so far and whatever we're in store to get in this last episode will not be able to live up to the tension they've constructed between these two characters over the past six seasons. It may still be sweet and cute, but there's really no way they can do all of that slowburning justice in the very last series finale ep (I'm open to being proven wrong, but I just don't see how that would be possible atp). As others have mentioned, it makes me think about all the repetitive plots that kept being used again and again across the seasons (Laslzo wants to protect Nadja and that offends her bc she can fend for herself, Guillermo leaves the house for the 50th time, Nandor 'falls in love' with some random person, etc) and how any of those repetitive plots could've been swapped out for focusing on new concepts and conflicts, such as new layers to the Nandermo dynamic. I would have liked, say, a season of Nandor having to confront feelings for Guillermo he can't run from anymore (it would have been more interesting imo to see him 'stop running' earlier on instead of trying to entrap hapless women over and over again), a whole subplot about that maybe, and his failings and triumphs at dealing with that and what it means to court someone he actually has feelings for, etc, I think that could have had a lot of comedic and character growth potential. There's literally a mile-long laundry list in my head of things that COULD have been done (with and without Nandermo) that maybe one of these days I'll get around to writing out and posting if anyone wants to use them for fanfic or fanart inspo or just to compare notes lol.
But yeah idk, I'm enjoying this season for what it is and as much as I can, and the last ep had some very juicy Nandermo moments, but I guess the thing is I think they should have happened much earlier and I think it's indisputable that this show will end as one with tons of mysteriously untapped potential- and while I can't wait to see the fix-it fan works that address all of that, it's still disappointing.

#especially the female side characters#but not exclusively them#do you have any idea how much depth you can add to a story#to the characters and the feeling of the world around you and the plot#by having characters exist in ANY OTHER RELATION TO EACH OTHER#than 1) a love interest or 2) a cheerleader to a love interest#(or 3) an obstacle to a love interest but thankfully we do that a little less these days than it used to be)#have them talk about the weather! about the mess hall food! about the fact that their family was just brutally massacred by the bad guys!#please have them talk about anything other than the main characters' romance!!

Everyone on here has such cool click clack ideas! like omg!!! I think it’s time that I share the one that I’ve made for an au idea I have, had them for about a week and I love them but I’m still trying to get details down for the au and all, still in the planning stage and like this is my first time really actually doing this.

This au is gonna be on the more body horror side and I would love to info dump about it once my brain gives me more ideas to write down but honestly I think his design for the au turned out good, their modeled after a teddy bear and I tried to make the face and eyes similar to one as much as I could for just concept sketches

been trying to get as much down as I can for it but obviously having your attention split while brain storming isn’t the best. Probably gonna make an info dump either way just the get the brain juices pumping but how much I share in an actual post is gonna depend on how willing I think people are to hear about it tbh. I'm musing on my plans ahead for a specific story (I'll update y'all when the month is over and I'm back on social media! but I have made a plot breakthrough literally three years in the making), and I realised: this character would absolutely have religious OCD/scrupulosity. So I need to do research.
People with ROCD, what resources would you recommend/what is it like living with scrupulosity? I may live with it myself, but I have no formal diagnosis and no medical professional has ever considered exploring it (that'd be multiple friends who've asked if I have OCD) so I'm hesitant to give her purely what I feel/experience in case I'm misleading myself.
A google search wasn't particularly helpful on specifically how to write it, hence why I came here.
Please signal boost and give me ideas :)
Though I won't see any responses until the month is over, if you have questions about the story itself and how her issues impact and are impacted by it, I'm happy to answer anything. I don't know how to keep a spoiler to save my life, lol.

Tell me about your shifter AU, Nix. 🥰
This is the published shifter AU that started it all! It's from Jake's POV and mostly about how protective/possessive he is over his husband and how he's not going to make Mav and Ice's lives easy as they try to reconcile.
I have plans to turn it into a series full of mostly short-ish one shots, that way I can explore more, without worrying about writing out a long main story.
So far though, I'm just working on how Jake and Bradley first meet! And how Jake obviously has to work to gain Bradley's trust to get that date.
These are also the ideas I plan to eventually add:
Jake and Bradley first meeting
Bradley showing/telling Jake what he shifts into (something I haven't decided on yet lol)
Bradley and Jake getting married
Bradley meeting the Seresin family
Post I'll Be Your Guard Heart, family dinner with Ice, Mav and extremely bitchy/petty Jake
(if you have ideas, please send them! I am not saying I will fill or add each one to the series, but I'm also not saying I would mind some ideas or suggestions from y'all!).
Really, my only downfall of this is that Jake and Javy are quiet literally the only two that I have settled on for what they shift into. I have nothing for anyone else yet lmao which is a big problem, considering it's a shifter AU.

honestly i dont really talk about caine all too much, i talk about pomni a lot and then ill talk abt ragatha a lot and then i also talk about gangle and kinger and it generally cycles between them (i draw jax a lot but it has to do w him just being fun to draw- i need to talk about zooble MORE bc they were one of the first parts of the show that got me invested)- i love the entire main cast but some of them i talk abt more and i feel like caine is not a common one i discuss. but i really really like his character even if i dont talk about him so much
#i think the complicated thing is that what i find appealing abt his character isnt always aligned w how he gets depicted#no shame to anyone else i like ppl having fun! i just like him in a specific way myself#i like when nonhuman characters are so very nonhuman its really cool to me#theres a tragedy to him that i also like but i like the idea that that tragedy is also like#what makes him Really Bad News for the cast members. i like him being scary in an oblivious nd jovial way its intriguing to me#.tbqh i dont see the show ending well for him#w the trajectory his character is going i think hes going to do worse and worse things#i dont think itll get rid of his tragedy and i do think the show will address some things theyve implied abt him more explicitly later#but. i dont think its ending well for him. i dont think hes gonna be making any friends. i think he is going to crash and burn#which. is sadder for him and worse news for the rest of the cast in a very compelling way to me#i mean smth good COULD happen for him but the way hes been presented so far doesnt make me hopeful for his future#i dont think hell ever be evil. and i think its more meaningful that way#smth smth he and jax are smth akin to foils and i think where jax' character has a good chance of having SOME inkling of improvement#by the end#but caine is less likely to have this. i think hes more likely to go the other direction#funny considering that caine is more jovial and friendly in comparison#but. yeah#i really like him theres a fun-ness to him thats really entertaining he makes me laugh#but theres also a deep horror to him that i loooove writing wise#add in the implied tragedy hes very interesting#theres a reason i still have that animatic in the works of him#i love the other characters a little more personally than caine#but the story being built up for caine and the circus as a setting is a majorly fascinating aspect of the whole show#im excited to see where it goes and i wanna be able to convey my thoughts on him#...tho i tend to get distracted by the women in the show more frequently HAHA

Metadow where Silver's their kid, facilitated by Metal's mucking about with genetic splicing -- since apparently he's interested in biotech, judging by Heroes -- so insert whatever shipping stuff one wants with them during the 200 years or whatever, and eventually someone gets the bright idea for a test tube baby for some reason, and huh weird it came out looking a lot like that one guy they used to know from the future *wait a minute--*
#metadow#sonic shipping#and that's all I'm tagging it in really#I was just idly musing about how Silver being Shadow's kid could possibly work and well I guess Metal could *technically* reproduce#if he actually wanted to; dunno that he would; that'd depend on your writing#but yeah just jurassic park that shit -- get some rando donor dna and patchwork sequence in whatever genes ya want#add to Shadow's genes and pop it in an easy-bake and voila telekinesis gremlin#potentially a way to explore the design challenge that is fankids with Metal as a 'bio' parent without needing to be robots#could even match traits to be whatever his organicsona would have#course since genetics don't exactly work as a 1-1 he could still do that and hypothetically have Silver who doesn't look much like either of#them; cause there's still going to be recessive genes and stuff from the patchwork dna and Shadow's#unless they somehow made Shadow without any unexpressed genes but I don't know why/how you'd do that#anyway I don't do much romance stuff but I do like the idea of Metal continuing to be a bioscientist so it'd be neat to see something like#that#course it's just as if not more interesting for him to have robot kids#but it's another option that's also relatively unique to him#although I guess he could help anyone have a kid if they wanted; that'd probably be nice of him#dude just wanted to turn himself into a cool bio-robo-dragon and now the Gays are asking him about gene splicing#in actual stories I prefer found family stuff but I enjoy the challenges that come with 'how could these two biologically work' and#'what would a kid of these two look like based on their genetics'#it's a fun exercise and design challenge#but the romance ain't for me so someone else is welcome to try this

currently thinking about reworking lucios route after rewatching malacalicos video about him and his route being absolute shit for his character.
i feel like somewhere in there, there could be a really compelling story but the writers just didnt do it justice
lucios character is interesting despite HATING HIM AND WHAT HES DONE TO LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE
hes a brat and a bitch and it isnt appealing, and i dont think he deserves a happy ending. not unless his character really goes through a massive change, but even then he wouldnt come out of it being buddy buddy with everyone.
i sort of want a story for him where mc doesnt stay with him and doesnt put up with his shit, i want a route where we can point out his mistakes to his face and force him to confront them and feel an ounce of remorse.
i dont want him to forgive himself or be forgiven. i want him to sit in turmoil and realize that everything he ever did, the people he hurt, the ones he killed, the countless places he colonized and ruined, all of it was for nothing. he didnt gain power, he didnt get his deals, he died and that was it (in his route, in all the others he turns to the devil). it was all a means to an end.
i need him to be more devastated to find out he killed you after youve spent months together, fought together, and helped him better himself. i need him to be horrified with his actions and just FEEL SOMETHING. ugh
maybe thats all why hes the main antagonist. but good lord i just need him to stop seeing lives he ruined and going "oopsie!! im so silly"

this morning i started writing a thorki au and it has already committed the following sins: modern au; thor & loki not being related; blue-collar thor while loki is posh. but i don't care because the whole concept is stupid and tailored to my very specific demands and there is as ever a good chance i will never make any real progress on it anyway. ha ha. ha haha. so there.
#okay so listen: thor is electrician BUT he is also somehow arthur king of the britons#and i have no yet worked out the mythical/magical elements work into the story really BUT#thor being the magic rightful king is V AWKWARD for loki the current king of the danelaw#(MODERN DANELAW AU YES!
