during one of the final psych evals at Arkham right before he gets to be released, the whole thing wrapped up so tidy, just a little relapse which involved a robbery. Getting sent back to Arkham, but he got to stay at the asylum so long that he no longer has to serve a prison sentence, score!

But during that eval his overseeing psychiatrist recommended him to have a change of scenery, some fresh non polluted air.

Riddler was rather convinced the guy was making this recommendation to everyone in Arkham in their own weird way to convince them to just leave Gotham and become someone else's problem. should he notify Batman about it somehow? nah, it’ll be more interesting to see how this is gonna turn out in the long run.

But can he leave the state? Can he even leave the city? he never really bothered to look into it, at least not legally, up until now if he felt he needed to leave for one of his plans he just did it.

Turns out he can, it’s a whole hassle and a half though, first a judge and then a probation officer and he’s pretty sure both were like “what the hell is this psychiatrist guy thinking!?” but at the same time, shrink probably knows what he’s doing (WRONG) so he’s allowed to go visit out of state family or whatever.

he had to wear this nice ankle monitor though, Wayne Enterprises™ tech, not overly bulky but still very present. real fancy, and a fun extra challenge heh.

now as for a good reason to leave New Jersey he’s going to need distant relatives, and he finds some, great grandpa walker also has a son, who had a son who had a daughter Madeline, who married some guy Jack Fenton, and she lives somewhere out in the boonies Illinois. great he’ll visit her.

far enough away in all sense of the word that there is no way she knows anything about him. it would be best to call her first though, be polite about it.

“hello, you have reached Fenton works, this is Maddie speaking” 

“Riddle me this-” ah whoops, habit, oh whatever, “we don’t share parents, but certainly a part of your life, from laughter to strife. Who am I?”

there is a pause …  he’s going to be a bit disappointed if she hangs up if he’s honest.

“cousins~” comes the cheery reply.

“correct! the name is Edward Nygma, we are distantly related you and I and well-”

“oh you simply must come visit!” 

well this was rather easy, perhaps a little too easy, but she lives in the midwest so maybe just going with whatever some guy says over the phone is normal there? stranger danger not really a thing in a small town where everyone knows everyone?

things start to make a little more sense once he gets there and he’s starting to think some things might run in the family. like a preference for the colour green and weird hyperfixations and genius bordering on insanity. Though that remains to be seen, Jack does not seem like a very bright light after his very enthusiastic welcome.

their kids however are observant and sharp. young Jasmine is wasting no time trying to psychoanalyze him. and the boy, Danny, he had not really meant to and he swears he’s sticking with calling the kid Danny so he wouldn’t seem overly familiar, but he might have called him little bird a couple times now.

but that’s all whatever, he’s playing nice here. and he doesn’t even have to worry about his eccentricities tripping him up because this place is insane.

There actually is a local teen vigilante active but he seems about as loved as he’s disliked. and the ghost boy’s enemies are basically all his own kind, which another crazy thing to now know about. ghost. they are real actually, how is Gotham not completely overrun? and how do they even work? and where do they keep coming from?

Edward might be getting a little sidetracked here. He had fully intended to sneakily get his next big game plan underway all the way out here, ankle monitor be damned. but he hasn’t made any progress at all.

Instead he’s been listening to Madeline and Jack to maybe figure out what the deal is with these ectoplasmic entities, he has to know, at this point he might go crazier if he doesn’t. 

He’s making Jasmine promise him not to get her doctorate in Gotham, he’s going back and forth with space riddles with Danny.

so yeah the whole thing kinda just became a vacation, maybe the psychiatrist had the right idea after all? hmm nah, probably not. but this is fun. He’s thinking about recommending this place to some of the others.

It's different enough to get the vacation feel, but enough crazy shit happens to make it all feel like home.

it is not until Maddie wants to talk with him about potentially switching the position of godfather of Danny to him rather than some weird rich friend of theirs that Edward realizes he might have lost the plot somewhere

Apparently the little bird basically begged them with a powerpoint presentation on how he likes Edward so much more than that Vladimir guy. 

And honestly, the fellow sounds like a Dracula Lutho so even if it’s kinda sad Edward can understand why he’d be considered a better option. Even if the guy has more money and a huge company that makes him said money. And it’s not like the Fentons know about his Riddler activities.

Thinking it over, Edward does think that Danny would like Gotham and Wayne has that space program thing right? The kid is definitely smart enough for that (Nygma certified), and yeah Edward does quite like their space themed back and forth. So, fuck it, why not, what is the worst that could happen?

He doubts Maddie and Jack are gonna kick it any time soon anyway out here in the boonies, it’s just a title thing, a stamp of approval or something.

he should have known he was going to eat those words later… he had this whole beautifully elaborate trap set up for the whole Batclan, and he was just getting to the good part when his phone went off.

Had to put the whole thing on pause cause that particular contact wasn’t gonna get ignored. He did promise to be available.

If the whole thing he had planned now went tits up he could at the very least laugh later at the reactions of the bats as he told them to “hold up one second, I have to take this.” while they were all in various perilous positions. 

Sadly he did have to go, he had a very distressed godson to pick up.

doing a little lovestruck gp with these two!! a little backstory under the cut if you're interested!

adelaide (ada) and valerie (val) met as freshmen in college at britechester when they were randomly paired together as roommates. ada studied communications and hoped to become a journalist, val was unsure what she wanted to do at first but knew that she wanted to do something with art and possibly fashion. they didn't click at first but over time became inseparable. for the next 3 years, they lived together and when graduation came, val decided she wanted to move back to her hometown, ciudad enamorada, and ada, now unsure of what to do with her life post-grad, decided to go with her. they found a nice 2 bedroom apartment in the historic center of the city to rent for the foreseeable future while they explore the city and all it offers.

despite getting along really well, the two are pretty much opposites. val loves going out meeting making out with new people while ada prefers to make friends, she's also a little awkward when it comes to romance... (she's trying her best!)

I do want to also add to my sudden numerous WWDITS/Nandermo posts that while I have enjoyed this season (somewhat) and the 'Nandermo' they've given us for what it is, I can confidently say at this point that there should have been more. I absolutely agree with everyone saying there should have, could have been more, and even if the last episode confirms somehow without a doubt that Nandor and Guillermo are a couple or in love etc, as great as that would be in the moment, I will always lament that it could have (arguably should have) happened a season ago. Two seasons ago, even, maybe more! I agree that what we've gotten so far and whatever we're in store to get in this last episode will not be able to live up to the tension they've constructed between these two characters over the past six seasons. It may still be sweet and cute, but there's really no way they can do all of that slowburning justice in the very last series finale ep (I'm open to being proven wrong, but I just don't see how that would be possible atp). As others have mentioned, it makes me think about all the repetitive plots that kept being used again and again across the seasons (Laslzo wants to protect Nadja and that offends her bc she can fend for herself, Guillermo leaves the house for the 50th time, Nandor 'falls in love' with some random person, etc) and how any of those repetitive plots could've been swapped out for focusing on new concepts and conflicts, such as new layers to the Nandermo dynamic. I would have liked, say, a season of Nandor having to confront feelings for Guillermo he can't run from anymore (it would have been more interesting imo to see him 'stop running' earlier on instead of trying to entrap hapless women over and over again), a whole subplot about that maybe, and his failings and triumphs at dealing with that and what it means to court someone he actually has feelings for, etc, I think that could have had a lot of comedic and character growth potential. There's literally a mile-long laundry list in my head of things that COULD have been done (with and without Nandermo) that maybe one of these days I'll get around to writing out and posting if anyone wants to use them for fanfic or fanart inspo or just to compare notes lol.

But yeah idk, I'm enjoying this season for what it is and as much as I can, and the last ep had some very juicy Nandermo moments, but I guess the thing is I think they should have happened much earlier and I think it's indisputable that this show will end as one with tons of mysteriously untapped potential- and while I can't wait to see the fix-it fan works that address all of that, it's still disappointing.

This au is gonna be on the more body horror side and I would love to info dump about it once my brain gives me more ideas to write down but honestly I think his design for the au turned out good, their modeled after a teddy bear and I tried to make the face and eyes similar to one as much as I could for just concept sketches

the catch of that ability is that for the sake of balance for every character he reads out, some other living soul disappears into the book

ofc he understands that particular part in the most traumatic way: one night he reads to his wife Resa & their little daughter Meggie from a book called "In.kheart" & accidentally some of the story's villains plus the firedancer D.ustfinger appear, while Resa gets trapped in the book

Mo raises Meggie on his own, trying to find a way to get Resa back

he's a bookbinder & later in the In.kworld takes the persona of the Robin-Hood-like bandit called Bluejay (yes, the man has RANGE)

loves old books more than his own life (relatable tbh)

plot ideas: very flexible in both fantasy & modern settings (since he lives in both even in canon), if you write a literature character he could also always read your character out of their world, if you're up for that kind of shenanigans (& a hell lot of trauma for both)

Will Reckless

canocially gets the nickname "the puppy" & I think that says a lot

angel baby with a hell lot of hidden anger

when Will was still a child their father disappeared through the mirror in his office & their older brother Jacob soon follows him (mainly to escape his own grief)

those events slowly but surely break his mother's heart, even though at least Jacob returns occasionally & eventually Will is left to take care of her, as her health declines

after her death, Will and his girlfriend live in the big N.YC appartment, until the events of the first book, that take them both in the world behind the mirror too

pretty much as soon as they sets foot in there, Will gets injured by goyl & due to a curse this wound starts to turn them into a goyl too

to literally everybody's surprise the stone his skin turns into is jade, the most sacred stone. there's a whole prophecy that the jade goyl is supposed to protect the king of the goyl, so Will is then hunted by literally everyone

also it's important that the stone skin is very much a metaphor for all the hidden emotions, especially the anger, finally breaking free (at least it is to me)

by book 3 Jacob managed to break the curse & Will is human again, but can still call the stone when he wants to, usually when they're angry or threatened

plot ideas: Will can appear both in fantasy settings & the modern world (either before the canon storyline or in between), I also have a detailed b.g3 au

born in the Mirrorworld, in the equivalent of France

as a child she saved a vixen from her violent older brothers & in gratitude the vixen left her a fox fur, that made her a shapeshifter & able to take on the shape of a vixen herself

they run away from home sooon afterwards & from then on they prefer the fur to their human form & don't use their birth name anymore

eventually she meets Jacob, Will's older brother & the two of them become an inseparable pair & travel around as renowned treasure hunters

lbr Jacob would already be dead without them & they both know it uwu

plot ideas: I could definitely throw her into other fantasy worlds easily & canonically she also travels through the mirror to our world once (& hates it), so that is always a possiblity too

a time travel gene runs in the male line of Gideon's family for generations & he becomes the 11th out of 12 in the circle

one of his ancestors, the Count of St Germain, has founded a lodge that still controls the gene carriers & their time jumps

at 16 the time jumps start for Gideon, not long after his father's death & his mother & younger brother end up moving to France

the lodge is in London & since only they can prevent uncontrolled time jumps, Gideon has to stay behind, moving in with his uncle who's (conveniently) the grandmaster of the lodge

so he's basically trained from a young age (he started preparing even before 16) to be the lodge's weapon & it's instilled in him that he's the one who has to "sort out the mess again" (the time jumps are controlled by a machine called the chronograph & the first one was stolen by Gideon's predecessors who disappeared into the past with it, it's a long story i could go into more detail about if you ask)

he's not only trained in different fighting techniques (both with weapons & without), but also plays the violin & the piano (violin is his favourite tho)

Gideon started studying medicine & gained some independence when he moved into his own flat in Chelsea, but rarely has time for either (he says himself that he can most likely forget about passing the current semester)

his storyline is very much about breaking free & finally living his own life

plot ideas: due to time travelling, I could throw Gideon into any time period (canonically it's limited to points past the 1500s, when the first in the line lived, but for the sake of rp I can ignore that)

For This is Fine (It’s Not Fine) I really want to have the last chapter be Dick finally meeting with Bruce (maybe the whole JL? Unsure on that yet) and letting him meet Damian, but I can’t figure out how I want to do it. I want Damian to be like 10 tho, so he can fully articulate that he doesn’t care if Bruce is his biological father, he will not be living with anyone but Dick. Bruce might be his father, but Dick his dad.

I'm musing on my plans ahead for a specific story (I'll update y'all when the month is over and I'm back on social media! but I have made a plot breakthrough literally three years in the making), and I realised: this character would absolutely have religious OCD/scrupulosity. So I need to do research.

People with ROCD, what resources would you recommend/what is it like living with scrupulosity? I may live with it myself, but I have no formal diagnosis and no medical professional has ever considered exploring it (that'd be multiple friends who've asked if I have OCD) so I'm hesitant to give her purely what I feel/experience in case I'm misleading myself.

A google search wasn't particularly helpful on specifically how to write it, hence why I came here.

This is the published shifter AU that started it all! It's from Jake's POV and mostly about how protective/possessive he is over his husband and how he's not going to make Mav and Ice's lives easy as they try to reconcile.

I have plans to turn it into a series full of mostly short-ish one shots, that way I can explore more, without worrying about writing out a long main story.

So far though, I'm just working on how Jake and Bradley first meet! And how Jake obviously has to work to gain Bradley's trust to get that date.
